How to Fix the Website Error - "This site can't be reached"

Are you having trouble accessing becausecosmetics.com? Did you get an error like this? Don't worry. We'll walk you through how to fix it below.

Here is some background (you can skip this part if you're not interested). BeCause hosts its website and content with WordPress. In addition, we have used Google as a DNS (Domain Name Service) provider. Basically, DNS is like the phonebook of the internet with a list of addresses and where to find specific websites. And recently, Google announced that they sold their DNS business to Squarespace. BeCause used the opportunity to move our DNS domain hosting to WordPress, and consolidate our service providers. So, the site itself didn't move, but the DNS address information changed. This change created an issue with some people, depending on the web browser they use on their phone, laptop, or desktop. This is true especially if their device saved the previous DNS information for becausecosmetics.com. But there is good news! It's an easy fix and you should only have to do it once to update the information that your device saves about our site DNS.

Most of the recent issues with becausecosmetics.com are connected to the Google Chrome web browser. If you are using the Chrome browser, follow these instructions to fix the problem. If you are not using Chrome or are still having trouble, email hello@becausecosmetics.com and we will personally guide you through fixing the problem.

  1. Clear your browser cache. In your Chrome browser, you can do that by going to Settings > Privacy and Security > Clear Browsing Data. Make sure to select the Time range "All time."
  1. Flush your browser DNS cache. The Chrome browser saves DNS information. You can easily clear that information on your own. Click on this link, then click on the button that says "Clear host cache."

  1. You need to delete any bookmarks or favorites that you use for our site, including links to the dashboard, etc. Once you can access the site again, you can create new bookmarks or favorite links and they will work.
