FAQs

Where did the name “BeCause” come from?

“BeCause” has two parts: “be” and “cause.” These two parts represent key values of the brand. Affiliates focus on what they want to BE and use phrases like, “Be the change you want to see in the world.” We focus on taking action to change our own lives and to change the world around us. The “cause” part of our name refers to our focus on philanthropy. Three percent of every commissionable sale goes toward causes nominated and selected by our Affiliates. We believe in supporting organizations that are also working to make the world a better, more beautiful place.

What does it mean that BeCause Cosmetics products are EU-compliant?

The European Union (EU), which includes 28 countries, has more stringent and protective laws for cosmetics than the United States. The hazard-based, precautionary approach of the EU acknowledges that chemicals linked to cancer and birth defects simply don’t belong in cosmetics – regardless of the concentration of the chemical being used.

The EU Cosmetics Directive (76/768/EEC) was adopted in January 2003 and most recently revised in 2013. The EU law bans 1,328 chemicals from cosmetics that are known or suspected to cause cancer, genetic mutation, reproductive harm or birth defects. In comparison, the United States FDA has only banned or restricted 11 chemicals from cosmetics. Unlike the United States, EU law requires pre-market safety assessments of cosmetics, mandatory registration of cosmetic products, government authorization for the use of nanomaterials and prohibits animal testing for cosmetic purposes. Where are BeCause Cosmetics products manufactured?

We currently work with several manufacturing partners in the United States, Germany, and China. Ingredients used in our products may originate from dozens of different countries around the world. Regardless of where our ingredients come from or where our products are made, we are dedicated to a standard of only using EU-compliant ingredients. We believe that you deserve the peace of mind that comes from knowing that your products are safe.

Is BeCause Cosmetics an MLM?

No. Our founder, Andrew McBride, has been on the corporate team of other Direct Sales companies including Scentsy and Perfectly Posh. With 14 years of experience behind the scenes, he understands the MLM and Direct Sales industries very well. So well, in fact, that he has worked very hard to make sure that BeCause Cosmetics is never associated with the practices that have earned some MLM companies a bad reputation: low-quality products, lack of transparency, and unethical business strategies. Instead, BeCause Cosmetics follows an Affiliate Marketing model that respects each Affiliate’s independence while also offering the resources, training, and product quality essential for success. You can be proud to be part of BeCause. Share products you love with people you love, and earn some rewards along the way!

Why did Andrew start BeCause Cosmetics?

Andrew believes that people deserve great products, a great culture, and opportunities to do good in the world. He also believes that the people who represent a brand deserve more of a voice in the strategy of the company, including the direction of products, incentives, charitable giving, and policies. As retail brands fail, Andrew believes that social selling and affiliate marketing are the answer to the next generation of business. But more than that, Andrew is committed to building a brand that is honest and focuses on teamwork, integrity, respect, fairness, philanthropy, courage, and servant leadership.

Who is Andrew McBride?

Andrew McBride is the founder of BeCause Cosmetics. He is a successful entrepreneur and innovative leader in the direct sales industry. Since 2008, he has been instrumental in the establishment, growth, and success of two other major brands before BeCause Cosmetics: Scentsy (2008-2011), an Idaho-based direct sales company engaged in the sale of wickless candles and fragrance products; and Perfectly Posh (2011-2017), a Utah-based company engaged in the sale of skincare and pampering products. Leveraging his expertise in community and brand building, Andrew combines strategic philanthropy with luxury cosmetics at retail-competitive prices at BeCause Cosmetics. Andrew’s vision for the brand reaches beyond great products and a great corporate culture to a future of possibility where the economic opportunities of brand affiliation combine with the synergy of thousands of brand affiliates doing good together. Andrew graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Marriage, Family, and Human Development. He and his wife, Emily, are the parents of 6 children.
